Tackle football

Grades 4-8

Welcome, Cougars! Updated October 25, 2026: The regular season is in progress. Tackle practice meets Tuesday and Thursday, 6:00-8:00 PM, and Saturday, 9:00-11:00 AM, at Lum Field. Flag and cheer follow their own team schedules. Ask the program about current availability for your child's grade.

Our tackle players practice safe technique while learning the game together. Dedication and fair play matter at every grade. Games use Cougar Field at Chatham High School, with travel for away games. Equipment fitting takes place at Lum Field House, Lum Ave, Chatham, NJ 07928. Your coach gives the grade-level instructions. Read our tackle page for skills and fitting details.

Cheerleading

Grades 4-8

Bring your voice and your best effort to cheer. Our squads build confidence and teamwork while supporting youth tackle football at home and away. Ask the parent managers about your child's squad, weekly practice and game attendance. Home games use Cougar Field.

Cheer plans include one weekly practice and one weekly football game, plus pregame practice. Confirm your squad's final schedule with the parent managers. The cheer page explains clothing and parent help. If you have uniform pieces from last season, check which can be reused before ordering.

Co-ed flag football

Grades 3-8

Boys and girls in grades 3-8 can try football skills together at Shunpike Field. Our flag groups pair grades 3-4, 5-6 and 7-8. The focus is on sportsmanship, hustle and enjoying the game. Players get to try different positions.

A mouthpiece is required and cleats are strongly recommended. Read the flag notes and ask about your group's schedule. New players and new parent coaches are welcome to ask questions.

Choosing and registering

Talk with your child about what they would like to try. Then compare the practice and game plans with your family calendar. Ask about attendance, equipment, fees and forms. Ask the program whether your child can join during the regular season before submitting forms.

Read the registration steps and use TeamSnap registration. If costs are a concern, write privately to [email protected]. We would like you to ask before ruling a program out.

Clinic and weather notices

Our 2025 Tip of the Spear clinic archive records an earlier event. Ask the tackle coach about any new clinic arrangements. The clinic described in that archive has passed; it does not confirm a new session.

Coaches post weather calls in TeamSnap. Use TeamSnap sign in to check your team's messages before leaving home.

Volunteer help

Could you give some time to your child's program? Tell us what fits your week. Cheer needs parent managers, and flag welcomes volunteer coaches without previous coaching experience. Ask about the checks and training for the role.

Chatham parents have kept our club going for Borough and Township families since 2015. Thank you to the volunteers, donors and sponsors who help our teams.
